About the role

The Material Handler Associate manages process flow in our Shipping department, ensuring orders are safely and promptly fulfilled. Using pallet jacks and handheld computers, you’ll transition pallets of product to staging areas and onto customer trucks. This role supports the warehouse and customers in Burgaw, NC, and may require flexibility to work in other areas as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of GAF products and parts, with awareness of availability.
• Work as a team to fulfill orders safely and in a time-sensitive manner.
• Utilize handheld computers for loading trucks and tracking progress.
• Work in other areas as business needs require.
• Maintain a positive attitude toward company policies, processes, and procedures.
• Demonstrate teamwork and adaptability to new techniques and processes.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, multiple shifts (1st and/or 2nd), and varied positions.
• Perform administrative tasks as required.
• Serve as backup for Shipping Clerks, Receiving Coordinator, UPS, and general shipping duties.
• Climb ladders and/or stairs.
• Use eye, hand, and finger coordination for office machinery.
• Operate a pallet truck and lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per day.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• 6+ months of prior manufacturing experience in a fast-paced environment (required).
• UPS Worldship experience (preferred).
• Availability to work overtime on short notice, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Working knowledge of bar-coded inventory management systems (desirable).
• Strong communication skills (written, oral, radio, or telephone) for reporting issues like product shortages.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to differentiate stock items and product variations.
• Ability to operate a sit-down forklift and walkie rider.
• Professional demeanor and cooperative work ethic.
• Ability to read orders and record information in English.

Pay

Base hourly rate: $24.64. Compensation offers will vary based on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, education, and qualifications.
