Material Handler
About the role
As a General Warehouse Associate at DSV, you will be responsible for picking, scanning, labeling, moving, staging, replenishing, and stacking product. You will count and inspect product, notify leadership of damages or discrepancies, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of all equipment. This role is key to meeting company objectives in performance, safety, and quality while complying with all corporate and site-specific policies.
Responsibilities
- Accurately pick orders using a pallet jack to fulfill client demands.
- Stage, stack, package, band, shrink wrap, and label products according to client requirements.
- Verify products and orders meet quality standards, reporting any damages or discrepancies.
- Execute all safety protocols and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
- Comply with Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies, safety rules, and OSHA/SDS Standards.
- Operate equipment such as pallet jacks safely and efficiently, reporting any issues for maintenance.
- Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Work overtime as dictated by business needs, whether mandatory or voluntary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures, ranging from mild to moderate during warmer and colder months.
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and handling product distribution.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 months of experience working in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
- Current or prior Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certification.
Skills
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, verbal).
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks.
Physical Demands
- Constantly walking and standing; frequently bending.
- Occasionally handling/fingering and sitting.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 21-50 pounds.
- Reach above shoulder, outward, squat, or kneel as required.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Pay
The expected base pay range for this position is $18 – $22 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
