Material Handler

About the role

As a General Warehouse Associate at DSV, you will be responsible for picking, scanning, labeling, moving, staging, replenishing, and stacking product. You will also count and inspect product, notifying leadership of any damages or discrepancies. This role is key to ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all warehouse equipment and meeting company objectives in performance, safety, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Picking Responsibilities:
  • Use a pallet jack to accurately pick orders to fulfill client demands.
  • Efficiently and accurately pick products and stage them in the appropriate areas.
  • Stack, package, band, shrink wrap, and label products as determined by client requirements.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for all picking functions.
• Quality Control Responsibilities:
  • Use appropriate documentation to ensure products and orders are received, handled, and shipped correctly.
  • Verify that products and/or orders meet quality standards, reporting any damages or discrepancies.
  • Stack, package, shrink wrap, and label products as required.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures for all quality control functions.
• Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:
  • Execute all safety protocols and accomplish job tasks in a manner that promotes safety.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the facility, ensuring a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Assist in the security of the warehouse.
  • Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site-specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/SDS Standards.
• Equipment Operation:
  • Operate equipment such as pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of equipment and reporting of equipment problems.
  • Follow prescribed work methods for all equipment operation.
• Maintenance:
  • Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
• Other Duties:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work overtime as dictated by business needs, whether mandatory or voluntary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Ability to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse, which can range from mild to moderate during warmer and colder months.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to accomplish job tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
• Must be able to effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.

Skills

• Language Skills: Proficiency in English (reading, writing, verbal).
• Mathematical Skills: Basic to intermediate level to verify quantities of product, count inventory, or perform other duties associated with handling, storing, and distributing client products.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6 months of experience working in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
• Current or prior Material Handling Equipment (MHE) certification.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally: Handling/Fingering, Sitting.
• Frequently: Bending.
• Constantly: Walking and Standing.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 21-50 pounds.
• Reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Pay

The expected base pay range for this position is $18.41 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
