Material Handler

About the Role

A.O. Smith is a global leader in innovative water heating, boiler, and water treatment technologies, serving residential and commercial markets worldwide. This onsite role is based in Charlotte, NC, within the North American Water Heaters (NAWH) business unit.

Responsibilities

• Perform Material Handler functions, including operating forklifts and using warehouse scanners in accordance with work instructions.
• Learn and execute all warehouse duties: receiving product from trailers, covering the floor by filling issues, pulling finished goods, supporting Service Parts, and pulling shipments.
• Perform accurate system transactions, including use of RF scanners for warehouse operations.
• Train in picking orders for Made To Order, stock, and production, with a focus on accuracy.
• Safely operate pickers and forklifts.
• Stand and walk for the entire shift without sitting; lift up to 75 pounds.
• Comply with all safety, quality, and procedural requirements outlined in Work Instructions.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Good job performance and attendance record.
• Basic computer knowledge, including SAP experience.
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking; frequent bending and reaching.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
