Responsibilities

  • Pick and pack (order picking and/or assembly of products in less than full case lots), light assembly (assembly of light mechanical or electrical component parts or sub-assemblies that may require the use of hand tools), and record storage
  • Repack or re-box cases per customer instructions
  • Repair and recoup damaged goods as required
  • Count all product, compare to manifest, and check all shipments for damage, infestation, and production code dates; report shortages, damages, and miss-shipments on appropriate forms
  • Sign for inbound shipments when necessary; unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations
  • Efficiently stack and store merchandise; ensure the correct number and type of product is picked
  • Compare quantity, labeling, and address with order to ensure outgoing shipments are complete and correct
  • Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipment
  • Stencil, tag, or mark orders as required; perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed
  • Accept signature for outbound shipments as necessary; efficiently move product into trailers, rail cars, or containers
  • Assist in physical inventories and cycle counts; ensure proper stock rotation
  • Operate shrink-wrap machine; charge forklift battery/gas tanks as needed; repair pallets when necessary; clean railcars, trailers, and truck bays as requested
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report all unsafe activities to supervisor
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals

Requirements

  • High school or G.E.D. degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, timekeeping, HRIS, and other relevant systems
  • Prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to carry and climb a ladder
  • Capable of standing and walking for extended periods (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8-hour day)
  • Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level, and crouch on a frequent basis
  • Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers, and perceive attributes of objects and materials

Special vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

  • Outdoors and indoor shop environment with adequate ventilation
  • Exposure to vibration, improperly illuminated or awkward and confining work spaces
  • Working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of items; loud noises typical
