Matchmaker for Dog Rescue - Volunteer Position

About the Role

As a Matchmaker, your primary focus is matching the right dog to the right home. You will take the time to learn about adopters and what they are looking for in a dog. By carefully matching the right dog to the right family, we aim to prevent many problems down the road. The Matchmaker serves as the primary contact between potential adopters and Path of Hope Rescue, guiding them through the adoption process with empathy, care, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Communication & Professionalism
  • Ensure a smooth, professional, and friendly experience for adopters.
  • Adhere to PHR Core Values and adoption/matchmaking policies.
  • Focus on the best fit for both the dog and the family.
  • Update software platforms throughout the process, keeping detailed notes.
  • Communicate with other PHR team members as needed.
• Dog Roster
  • Stay familiar with the roster of available dogs and incoming dogs.
  • Keep up to date on foster reports and dog descriptions.
• Applicant Process
  • Review pre-screened applications assigned to you.
  • Set up and conduct "Matchmaking" phone interviews.
  • Coordinate and oversee group text communication between foster and adopter.
  • Conduct long-distance In-Home Trials via video call.
  • Coordinate Puppy Delivery if the option is chosen.
  • Finalize adoption with a contract and donation.

Requirements

• Must have a strong affinity for people—our dogs rely on adopters, so you should enjoy building relationships with them.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Comfortable using CRM and multiple online platforms.
• Team player who fosters a positive, no-drama work environment.

About the Organization

Path of Hope Rescue saves pregnant dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in the Southern United States. Based in Spokane, Washington, our mission is to decrease euthanasia rates by transporting these dogs to the Pacific Northwest for adoption. We are a 100% foster-based rescue with no physical kennel, relying heavily on volunteers and fosters. Founded in 2018 with just $87, we are funded entirely by small donors, adoption fees, and occasional private grants—no government funding.
