Master Scheduler
About the role
This position is the highest level Material planning. This position responds to Customer and Program Management demand/forecasts, which drives all purchasing, manufacturing, NPI, prototyping and related engineering activities.
Responsibilities
- Creates, maintains and verifies the Master Schedule and interface with customer, Program Managers, Operations and Engineering Staff, as well as Finance to resolve materials and labor constraints, backlogs and any other potential schedule interruptions.
- Assists in the evaluation of scheduling priorities within the total site requirements needed to support fluctuating demands in sales & supply.
- Actively participates in continuous improvement of Planning and Control systems.
- Oversee the master schedule and ensure comprehensive compliance with materials requirements for prototyping and manufacturing.
- Create and maintain a valid Capacity Requirements plan, supporting the Master Schedule.
- Works with Buyer/Planners and management to provide solutions to problems in meeting the Material Plan in order to ensure that the Master Schedule is achieved.
- Supports purchase order placement and materials arrival tracking with vendors, as well as working with customer and Program Management in the approval of PO placement exceeding required thresholds, with potential risks of PPV, Excess Inventory, and any other materials exposure.
- Create analysis of demand data to identify trends for master schedule inputs and variance reporting and waterfall interpretation.
- Develop Master Scheduling business process; establish planning cycle and time horizons.
- Develop scheduling methodology that delivers a stable schedule, while still delivering agility when/where needed to support customer requirements.
- Compile and report weekly schedule metrics.
- Effectively communicate scheduling exceptions to Customers, Operations and Program Managers.
- Resolve demand/supply/capacity issues.
- Maintains and is responsible for all forecast accuracy and production level loading based on supply and production capacity available.
- Create what if scenarios.
- ECN, ECO management.
- Prepare excess and obsolete analysis related to ECN management, demand changes, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering with APICS certification.
- 8+ years experience as a Master Scheduler/Planner Buyer or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of productive process capacity and materials planning.
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent Oracle 11i, MS-Excel, MS-Office and MRP knowledge is a must.
- Advanced knowledge on Kinaxis Rapid Response Advanced Planning System to assist with planning tool development/enhancement.
- Understanding of process flows and continuous improvement.
- Experience on forward and reverse logistics (NPI, Prototyping, Direct Fulfillment & Repair) is a plus.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering with APICS certification.
- Experience: 8+ years experience as a Master Scheduler/Planner Buyer or equivalent.
Skills
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge on Kinaxis Rapid Response Advanced Planning System to assist with planning tool development/enhancement.
