About the role
The Master Scheduler role is an important part of Coilmaster's commitment to ensuring production schedules, material availability, customer priorities, and operational goals stay aligned in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain the master production schedule to support customer delivery requirements and production goals.
- Balance demand, capacity, labor, equipment, and material availability to optimize production flow.
- Monitor daily order status and communicate scheduling risks, delays, constraints, or material shortages.
- Partner with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Finance, and Operations to support longer-term planning needs.
- Adjust schedules as priorities shift based on customer needs, production capacity, and material availability.
- Support visual scheduling processes on the production floor.
- Ensure work orders, ERP planning parameters, BOM structures, routings, and inventory data are accurate and maintained.
- Track inventory levels and identify shortages or excess inventory that may impact the production schedule.
- Manage level loading and bottleneck scheduling to improve efficiency and schedule attainment.
- Support Lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Aid with process improvements as the business transitions to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of production planning or scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in job-based, custom, or engineered-to-order manufacturing preferred.
- Strong ERP/MRP system experience required; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
- Intermediate Microsoft Access skills preferred.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing systems, capacity planning, inventory control, BOM structures, routings, and material planning processes.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Ability to communicate professionally with internal stakeholders and high-value customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
