About the role
Lumin8 Transportation Technologies is seeking an experienced Electrician to join our team. This position involves installing, repairing, and maintaining various types of road-side electronic equipment, including signal systems, traffic monitoring devices, sensors, communications/networking equipment, CCTV, dynamic message signs, ruggedized computers, fiber-optic components, industrial controls, audio and video systems, radio transmitters/receivers, and antennas.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to industry standards and company safety policies.
- Install power supply wiring and conduit such as EMT, O-CAL, rigid conduit, MC cable, strut, cable trays.
- Troubleshoot electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, and circuits.
- Test electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair and ensure compliance with codes.
- Utilize computer programs to test, access, and document site information.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems such as electrical panels, CT cabinets, and power supplies.
- Converse with equipment operators to ascertain problems and causes before breakdown.
- Test faulty equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
- Replace defective components and wiring and adjust mechanical parts.
- Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Ensure all applicable policies and procedures are followed (safety, DOT requirements, etc.).
- Capable and willing to perform work at heights up to 100' on poles/towers, climbing via the safe use of ladders, or safety climb systems and/or bucket trucks.
Requirements
- Journeyman Electrician’s license is required.
- Master Electrician License preferred.
- 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
- Computer Skills (MS Office Suite, Windows Operating Systems, and commercial off-the-shelf programs).
- Maintain a current valid Driver’s License (CDL a plus) and good driving record.
- Experience working with Intelligent Transportation Systems and IMSA Signal Technician training a plus.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, interpret, modify, or create project-specific documents such as technical, operational, maintenance, and procedure documentation.
- Ability to write technical reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to use computer hardware and programs.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- The employee occasionally is required to work at heights up to 60 feet.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Working six to twelve hours per day is common, while being exposed to weather, dust, and construction site hazards.
