Mascot Handler
Red Bull New York (“RBNY”) is one of 30 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS) and one of the league’s ten original charter clubs. Founded in 1996, RBNY has competed in MLS since its inception. The First Team plays its home matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, and its Second Team plays at Montclair State University. RBNY is owned by Red Bull GmbH and is a three-time MLS Supporters’ Shield winner, a two-time Conference Champion, and the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Champion. RBNY also operates one of the nation’s premier youth soccer development programs, with an Academy ranked among the top in the country.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Mascot Handler for appearances (internal and external) as well as match days.
- Work regular season and playoff games, as well as mascot appearances.
- Adapt to different environments to provide the best game experience for fans.
- Problem-solve quickly in a live sports setting to ensure scripted events run smoothly and performer/fan safety is maintained.
- Maintain and create mascot props, costumes, and skit items as needed.
- Assist REDD in ideation sessions for in-game skits, social media content, and external requests.
- Assist in gameday preparation, including rolling t-shirts, organizing seat and suite visits, handing out prizes, and reviewing the game schedule.
- Communicate over headset with all game presentation staff during games.
- Perform other fast-paced game day duties as assigned.
- Engage fans of all ages with strong customer support to make their experience special and memorable.
Requirements
- Prior professional mascot or mascot handler experience is strongly preferred.
- Outgoing personality with a passion for entertainment within sports and comedy.
- Flexibility to work regular season & playoff match days, evenings, and weekends.
- Office hours will be subject to the needs of the mascot program.
- Dependable transportation to and from matches and appearances in the Tri-State area.
- Knowledge of MLS, general soccer knowledge, and the culture of RBNY supporters and fans.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Due to the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, the employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company.
