Marketing Winning Work Sr. Specialist - Transport

This role within our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team will help build and protect Arup’s reputation, deepen client relationships, and win quality work in the Transport sector (rail, roads & streets, aviation, maritime) across the West and LATAM geography.
About the role
The Marketing Winning Work Sr. Specialist – Transport provides strategic and operational leadership across the full pursuit and bid lifecycle, ensuring alignment with business priorities and Arup’s firm strategy. The role involves close partnership with business leaders, bid directors, and bid managers to define win strategies, lead complex pursuits, and drive high-quality proposal and interview outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Transport Business Leaders, Bid Directors, and Bid Managers to bring global experience to local clients throughout the pursuit process.
- Advise business leaders on pursuit strategy, resourcing, and bid prioritization, balancing efficiency, effectiveness, and probability of win.
- Lead and manage tender processes of varying scale and complexity, ensuring bid coordination, compliance, and quality for compelling, client-focused submissions.
- Guide development by liaising with technical teams, schedulers, project managers, and other contributors to meet internal and external deadlines.
- Align MCBD contributors (writers, editors, graphic designers, client managers) to strengthen win strategy, messaging, and proposal quality.
- Contribute to business development and go/no-go decision-making by providing insights on pipeline priorities, bid risk, and resourcing implications.
- Conduct effective reviews (e.g., color team reviews) and scale proposal development processes to support bid delivery goals.
- Identify and implement improvements to bidding processes, tools, and practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and win rates.
- Capture and share project win insights internally and externally, promoting new project wins in collaboration with the broader MCBD team.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and effective use of CRM and bid systems, ensuring data integrity and meaningful pipeline reporting.
- Provide insights from CRM data to inform annual business planning and pursuit prioritization.
- Maintain a strong understanding of local industry, markets, clients, and competitors to shape win strategies and client propositions.
- Guide and facilitate win strategy development for priority pursuits and support client-facing activities, including presentations and interview preparation.
Requirements
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Communications, Business Development, or a relevant field.
- Certification with APMP is desirable.
- 7+ years of experience in pursuits and bids within the AEC industry or similar.
- Demonstrated experience managing pursuits and bids, including prepositioning and the full bid lifecycle.
- Knowledge of current AEC bidding trends and procurement methods.
- Experience working with technical staff and marketing teams to ensure proposal process adherence, quality, and consistency.
- Proficiency in conducting and tracking activities related to project pursuits in CRM pipeline management tools.

Pay
The base salary hiring range for this role in Houston is $105,000 to $115,000 per year, commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Hiring ranges for candidates outside of Houston will differ.
