About the role

The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator supports the creation, publication, monitoring, and management of all marketing materials for Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research ("Center") and Cranbrook House & Gardens Auxiliary ("CHG"), including social media, web management, and digital marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive social media strategy for the Center and CHG that includes engaging social media campaigns highlighting tours, programming, and collections to expand public awareness of both entities and drive visitor traffic.
  • Promote tours, programs and events through the Center and CHG social media channels, with the goal of increasing awareness, participation, and attendance.
  • Work closely with curators and archivists to develop content for the Center.
  • Create and schedule content across all Center/CHG social platforms.
  • Analyze social media metrics and generate reports to establish benchmarks and inform strategy across all social media channels.
  • Maintain the calendar listings for Center and CHG, ensuring that all events are posted on social media channels, websites, and listed in community calendars.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the Portrait Photography Program, including online booking, client questions, and, as necessary, assist with onsite oversight of sessions.
  • Oversee photography and film shoots for the Center and CHG, including commercial and public relations shoots in the historic house museums as well as other historic campus, spaces, and landscapes.
  • Afford assistance with the design and production of merchandise related to the Center and CHG.
  • Afford oversight of the marketing of all merchandise related to the Center and CHG.
  • Afford oversight of the production of print materials for the Center and CHG, including rack cards, wayfinding maps, and programming signage.
  • Collaborate with fellow communications leaders across campus to support and align the public-facing paid, owned, shared, and earned opportunities for the community as a whole (internally and externally).
  • Attend regular staff meetings; meet with constituents as needed to gather information and present designs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, with 1–3 years of experience in marketing and social media, preferably in the arts and culture field.
  • Experience in developing social media campaigns and strategy, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience in graphic design and creating and editing video content for social media campaigns.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading abilities.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Experience and fluency in social media platforms, notably Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Experience with additional platforms and Sprout Social (or other social management tools) highly desired.
  • Experience with graphic design is desired.
  • Working knowledge of image and video editing is required. Adobe Premiere preferred.
  • Prior knowledge, interest, and/or experience in twentieth-century and contemporary art, craft, design, and architecture is preferred.
  • Apple Macintosh proficiency is required. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite programs including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop desired.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress and or Drupal, the platforms used for websites, is preferred.
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google AdWords desired.
  • A valid Michigan driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required.

Pay

The starting salary for this position is in the upper $50k+ range based on experience.
