About the Role

The Marketing Coordinator supports the marketing efforts of the Kansas City Power & Light District, its tenants, internal stakeholders, and partners. This role manages digital marketing channels and implements the District’s marketing strategy through compelling content and creative assets. The Specialist also analyzes marketing performance and supports the execution of District campaigns and initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a creative marketer with exceptional visual instincts, curiosity, and initiative. They naturally think about how to tell stories, build brands, and connect with audiences. They are equally comfortable generating ideas, creating compelling content, analyzing performance, and bringing campaigns to life from concept through execution.

Responsibilities

Digital Marketing Management

  • Manage the day-to-day digital marketing presence of the Kansas City Power & Light District, supporting District-wide initiatives, tenant promotions, and partner commitments.
  • Develop and own the District’s social media strategy and monthly editorial calendar, translating the broader marketing strategy into an intentional content plan aligned with District priorities, tenant initiatives, and audience insights.
  • Present content plans for leadership review before the start of each month.
  • Create a balanced content mix that builds the District brand through storytelling, community, lifestyle, architecture, history, and tenant content while supporting key promotional initiatives.
  • Maintain the District's social media channels, email marketing, website, and online event calendars, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and aligned across platforms.
  • Develop, schedule, and distribute digital content designed to drive awareness, engagement, traffic, and conversion.
  • Monitor social media activity and provide timely, professional customer service through social listening and community engagement.
  • Monitor digital platform and campaign performance and prepare monthly reports that summarize key metrics, audience insights, content performance, and recommendations for future marketing efforts.
  • Identify emerging digital trends, tools, and opportunities that could strengthen the District's marketing efforts.

Content Capture and Distribution

  • Design and create marketing assets including social graphics, email creative, presentations, digital, and promotional materials.
  • Capture photography and video content for District marketing initiatives as appropriate.
  • Review, organize, and distribute approved photo and video assets across marketing channels.
  • Maintain an organized and accessible photo and video library.
  • Ensure marketing content and deliverables are captured and distributed according to established plans and timelines.

Marketing Support

  • Assist with the execution of annual marketing strategies, campaigns, and community initiatives.
  • Identify new marketing, event, and community engagement opportunities that support the District and its tenants.
  • Assist with sponsorship and partnership initiatives, including promotional fulfillment, content capture, and activation support.
  • Participate in District marketing meetings and collaborate with internal departments, tenants, vendors, and external partners.
  • Support additional marketing, media, event, and sponsorship projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Two to three years of marketing, communications, or digital marketing experience.
  • Portfolio demonstrating graphic design, photography, videography, and/or digital content creation.
  • Experience developing social media strategy and managing digital marketing campaigns.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms, website content management systems, and social media management tools.
  • Experience analyzing marketing performance and developing actionable insights.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to work in a collaborative in-office setting and attend in-person meetings with colleagues to formulate strategies, solve problems, and share best practices.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends, as needed.

Pay

Salary range: $40,000–$45,000.
