About the role
As a Temporary Market Supervisor, you’ll lead day-to-day market operations, coach a dynamic team, and set the tone for exceptional campus service. This position provides valuable management experience with one of North Carolina’s premier university dining programs, supporting your growth toward potential permanent roles.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily store operations, train and coach student and temporary staff, and foster a welcoming, high-energy environment.
- Serve as a champion for outstanding customer service, ensuring every guest leaves satisfied.
- Oversee point-of-sale (Micros POS) transactions, maintain accurate financial paperwork, track inventory, and ensure smooth purchasing/selling workflows.
- Safely prepare drinks and food to recipe standards, including pulling espresso shots, scooping ice cream, baking fresh cookies, and making waffle cones.
- Execute daily cleaning protocols to uphold the Grade “A” Sanitation rating.
- Adapt and support other dining locations as needed to keep campus operations seamless.
- Act as an ambassador for NC State Dining and the university, enriching campus life and supporting student success.
- Work cohesively as a team member to create a positive work environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalency; demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work will also be considered.
- Strong customer service and leadership skills, with the ability to provide exemplary, courteous service and maintain professionalism during high-volume periods.
- Ability to work collaboratively as an active, supportive team member and communicate clearly with customers, peers, and management.
- Operational skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to shifting customer volume, and process financial transactions accurately using credit card and NC State One Card POS systems.
- Strong attention to detail, with a proven track record of following written/verbal instructions and completing tasks efficiently.
- Intermediate computer literacy, with the ability to quickly learn custom department software.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods, as well as lifting up to 30 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Ability to work in active kitchen and dining settings, adapting to both hot and cold working conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a similar capacity, such as supervising or purchasing.
- Experience on a college or university campus.
- ServSafe certification.

Pay
$17.00 per hour.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8:30 pm with rotating weekends.
Temporary roles include a mandatory 31-day break after 24 months of continuous service. Superior performance may lead to contract renewal or transition to permanent roles.
