Job Summary
Under the direction of the Chief Clinical Officer, coordinates staffing for all nursing units. Verifies licenses and certification. Serves as a liaison between the nursing office and other hospital departments. Assists the nursing administration with reports, staffing variances, and scheduling. Actively participates in recruitment activities for nursing services.
Essential Functions
- Develops and maintains nursing department staffing records including cancellation list, float log, master schedule, attendance records.
- Identifies with the CCO or designee the number and level of personnel required to provide patient care, initiates changes in personnel and assignment as directed.
- Maintains the accuracy of the nursing payroll time sheets. Initiates changes and corrections as necessary.
- Completes schedule and completes daily staffing sheets.
- Demonstrates competency and practice behavior in areas of staffing variances. Reports staffing problems and unusual situations to the CCO or designee and keeps her/him informed of situations requiring follow up or immediate attention.
- Reports any employee absences, scheduling and tardy issues to the CCO or designee for corrective and possibly disciplinary action.
- Maintains and verifies copies of current licensure, CPR and ACLS (if applicable) for the nursing staff, as appropriate.
- Maintains employees’ file on annual skills competencies, annual hospital updates and other educational competencies as directed by the CCO/designee.
- Handles registry staffing according to staffing needs. Maintains registry competencies, billing records, and sign in sheets for registry: Checks charges for accuracy and is a liaison with the registry companies.
- Reviews applicants for open positions within the nursing department, sets up applicants with interviews.
- Participates in recruitment activities for nursing services as directed by the CCO.
- Schedules and participates in in-services as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (Preferred)
- Licenses/Certifications: None
- Experience: One-year experience as staffing coordinator in acute care hospital preferred.
