About the role
The Market President is responsible for developing, managing and growing a portfolio of commercial and agriculture relationships. Responsibilities include identifying needs, providing assistance, analyzing risk, approving and disbursing loans, preparing loan analyses, leading the market, and expanding and deepening existing customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the mission, values, vision and principles of the Bank.
- Remain up-to-date regarding company policies and procedures and perform all functions in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
- Provide the highest quality of customer service in an efficient, professional and accurate manner consistent with the Bank’s values and standards.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and laws including but not limited to: The Bank Secrecy Act.
- Assists in leading and maintaining lending compliance.
- Customer Service and Sales - Lending
- Grow loan/line portfolio through proactive measures.
- Engage customers in positive manner through prospect calling activities.
- Develop banking relationships by reviewing and analyzing financial data.
- Review and analyze financial data to determine loan/line request merits.
- Recommend loan structure and provide financial advice.
- Prepares and presents loan and credit analysis to committees.
- Prepare and present loan applications to Loan Committee or Chief Credit Officer.
- Maximize bank profitability through appropriate pricing of new loan originations, fee income, and selling of all bank products and services.
- Approve or decline loans within specified limits.
- Notify non-qualifying applicants in a timely manner.
- Work closely with Loan Assistants for document preparation, processing, and check disbursal.
- Review work for accuracy and discuss loan terms with customers.
- Compose letters and prepare notices relating to loan activities.
- Visit loan customers to review collateral management.
- Manage collection activities and help customers bring accounts current.
- Attend court hearings when necessary.
- Extend a warm welcome to customers, identify needs, present solutions, overcome resistance, complete sales, and nurture relationships.
- Identify and refer customers to other employees within and across lines of business.
- Sell bank products to new and existing customers.
- Participate in joint calls to further develop relationships.
- Assist customers and potential customers with questions, problems, and inquiries regarding Bank services and loans.
- Resolve related account issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Direct customers to other appropriate Bank employees as needed.
- Avoid and resolve conflicts.
- Keep up to date on lending laws, rules, and regulations.
- Recommend loan policy changes to supervisor.
- Participate in the strategic planning and implementation process for the market area.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the entire branch.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to provide the highest quality of customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of commercial business management, finance, and macroeconomics.
- Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships.
- Extensive knowledge of bank services and products.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and financial analysis skills.
- Thorough understanding of risks (market, rate, leverage, etc.) as it applies to the lending/borrowing process.
- Ability to read and interpret technical loan documents, financial statements, ratios, and tax returns.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Intermediate mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, decimals).
- Ability to follow and comprehend written and verbal instructions.
- Compose routine business correspondence and reports (good grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or agricultural lending, preferably in a banking environment.
- Licenses/Certifications: Lending officer license preferred.
