This is a remote position with an ideal base location in northern San Diego county. The role will support markets in San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties.

About the Role

The On and Off Premise Market Manager will be responsible for executing company on- and off-premise strategic initiatives in the Greater San Diego and Inland Empire markets. This individual will implement and evaluate programs within brand strategies at the field level in on- and off-premise accounts. The successful candidate will also lead, direct, train, and manage local distributor sales teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage distributors on a day-to-day basis, ensuring adherence to brand policies, distribution objectives, and promotional activity.
  • Train distributor salespeople, observe competitive market activity, and evaluate distributor execution against initiatives.
  • Support the Regional Manager (direct report).
  • Meet with key on- and off-premise accounts to develop strong working relationships and present brands for increased volume.
  • Be visible at distributor offices, meeting with sales representatives and management to ensure share of mind.
  • Align with key local events and participate where opportunities fit the strategy, including executing national initiatives locally.
  • Act as the primary contact for distributor sales teams, keeping them informed of local and national objectives and providing support for sales activities.
  • Execute product seminars at accounts and with distributor sales teams.
  • Provide National Account Mandate compliance updates as required.
  • Stay informed of customer and consumer trends.
  • Maintain a calendar of activities and promotions, ensuring successful communications between distributors and third-party agencies.
  • Manage third-party promotional company activity and execute brand trainings with staff.
  • Provide a monthly market activity report to the Regional Manager, including objectives, accomplishments, competitive activity, special projects, and specific needs.
  • Deliver market and competitive brand updates to the supervisor, including timely communication of changing field conditions affecting volumes or staffing changes at distributors and competitors.
  • Review programs and execution updates with distributor management.
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of marketing and sales initiatives, including programs, POS, and advertising.
  • Handle special projects such as verifying pricing and distribution at on- and off-premise accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Five (5) plus years of work-related experience in the distilled spirits/wine supplier industry.
  • Analytical skills, including gathering data from various sources and presenting it in suitable formats for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services, including marketing strategy, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Strong managerial and effective presentation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Pay

In California, the expected compensation range for this role is between $105,000 and $115,000 per year. Actual starting pay may differ based on non-discriminatory factors, including geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
