Responsibilities

• Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximum sales volume and achieve budgeted gross profit figures as established by the Meat Merchandising Department.
• Prepare all meat records as required by the Accounting & Merchandising Departments.
• Follow all company policies related to weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying of merchandise.
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage.
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard and ensure inventory control.
• Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines.
• Assist guests and maintain good customer relations.
• Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, advanced planning, and scheduling to ensure company objectives are met.
• Schedule the department and ensure it is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
• Set performance expectations for direct reports, hold them accountable for productivity goals, and provide ongoing and annual performance feedback.
• Teach and train departmental staff, build a talent planning bench, and develop high-potential and promotable individuals.
• Perform all other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of meat or supermarket experience.
• Must be 18 years old.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs constantly.
• Ability to read and understand information and direction.
• Knowledge of meat operations.
• Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements on the job.
• Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stand, push/pull stock carts for extended periods of time.
