About the role

The Market Health Information Management Manager oversees HIM departments across multiple facilities, ensuring efficient and effective handling of patient records and related documents. Key responsibilities include managing staff, overseeing legal and regulatory requirements, and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Manages HIM departments to optimize patient record handling.
  • Supervises HIM staff in processing medical records and other functions.
  • Suspends physicians with delinquent medical records according to hospital policy.
  • Maintains legal and accreditation regulations regarding medical records.
  • Serves as a HIPAA resource for hospitals.
  • Maintains continuous quality improvement of patient information.
  • Analyzes patient data for facility planning and quality of care.
  • Maintains appropriate medical records and statistics for compliance.
  • Attends committee meetings and in-services.
  • Ensures adherence to dress code and appearance standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information.
  • Communicates and represents the organization professionally.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HIM operations experience required.
  • Previous experience in an electronic medical record environment preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HIM supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of accreditation standards, regulations, and third-party requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information.
  • Ability to work under stress and respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Ability to organize, schedule, and prioritize work assignments.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and continuous quality improvement.
  • Employee development and performance management skills.
  • Fluent English language skills.
  • Good and regular attendance.
  • Up to 50% travel required.
