Manager Health Information Management
About the role
The Manager Health Information Management oversees all health information management/medical record functions for selected outpatient areas within Dignity Health Medical Group in Phoenix, Arizona. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, providing consulting services to other hospital departments, and supporting Compliance by providing ongoing training and education.
Responsibilities
- Maintains current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices and proactively applies that knowledge to the health information services function.
- Directs all Health Information Management functions. Establishes policies, procedures, standards, and departmental objectives. Prepares budget for department. Maintains productivity requirements for HIM. Directs hiring and evaluation of staff.
- Serves as a resource for hospital staff, physicians, patients, and families regarding SJHMC change to Dignity Health Medical Group, BNI, NTI, and privacy policies and patient rights under HIPAA.
- Participates in appropriate committees and task forces, including: Accreditation Committee, Forms Committee, HIS Task Force, Quality Council, Revenue Cycle Enhancement Committee, Faculty Practice Compliance Committee, and other ad hoc committees as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- Four (4)+ years Management experience
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Preferred: Master's degree in Health Information Management or related field, and Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
