Market Attendant
About the role
The Market Attendant is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction at their assigned locations. This involves merchandising products, restocking shelves, delivering goods, handling cash, maintaining food safety, and interacting professionally with customers.
Responsibilities
- Mercandise products according to store layouts and plan-o-grams designs.
- Roll-out promotions.
- Obtain and report customer feedback.
- Maintain established inventory levels for all products sold, including soft drinks, pre-packaged food, sandwiches, salads, soups, wraps, fruits, vegetables, candy, pastry, and snack items.
- Count, record, and follow ordering protocol for inventory.
- Restock shelves, coolers, and vending spirals.
- Follow protocols for inventory tracking and rotating of product.
- Collect and record out-of-date, rejected, or unsold merchandise.
- Review inventory requirements to identify what products are needed for each point of sale.
- Load and unload products using proper safety protocols to prevent injury.
- Drive vehicle to points of sale to deliver merchandise.
- Maintain open lines of communication with management regarding routes and recommended scheduling changes.
- Collect money from kiosks and vending machines.
- Replace bill changers and refill coin tubes utilizing handheld or similar device.
- Follow cash handling and loss prevention protocols to ensure personal and property safety.
- Record transactions on appropriate forms and/or handheld device.
- Monitor and report any activity that seems out of the norm or raises specific concern about potential misconduct.
- Ensure proper handling and refrigeration of all perishable items during transit and while stocking products.
- Ensure coolers maintain appropriate temperatures to store products.
- Perform routine cleaning, including vending machines, coffee machines, microwaves, coolers, racks, shelves, tables, counter tops, floors, and windows, in and around each point of sale.
- Greet clients and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Communicate effectively with customers to address questions or concerns.
- Provide suggestions related to products and solutions as needed.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to improve route efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Teach customers how to use machines and kiosks.
- Conduct minor repairs and adjustments on machines such as removal of bent coins, jammed products, and replacement of display lights.
- Report more complex machine issues to Service Central for repair.
Requirements
- High-School Diploma or GED.
- Prior retail experience, and familiarity with basic merchandising concepts.
