Position Summary

The Napa County Office of Education is seeking passionate, dependable, and community-minded individuals to serve as full-time AmeriCorps Members within the Mariposa Program during the 2026–2027 school year.

Youth Mentorship & Student Leadership

  • Build strong, positive mentoring relationships with students across assigned school sites
  • Serve as a consistent and supportive adult role model for youth
  • Support students in developing leadership skills, confidence, communication skills, and positive peer relationships
  • Facilitate student engagement activities, leadership opportunities, and youth-centered discussions
  • Encourage student connectedness, belonging, and engagement within the school community

Cohort Leadership & Program Support

  • Work closely with the Mariposa Program Coordinator to support broader program initiatives and student engagement goals
  • Help foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive culture among the cohort of Mariposa Coaches throughout the school year
  • Aid in supporting team communication, collaboration, and engagement during trainings, events, and program activities
  • Support outreach, recruitment, and community engagement efforts connected to the Mariposa Program when needed

Cultural Enrichment & Community Engagement

  • Support culturally responsive programming and enrichment opportunities through the Mariposa Program
  • Assist with student engagement and participation in Ballet Folklórico programming and cultural events
  • Create welcoming, inclusive, and positive environments for students and families

Professional Development & Leadership Growth

  • Participate in ongoing coaching, trainings, leadership development, and professional growth opportunities
  • Gain direct experience in youth mentorship, leadership development, prevention education, facilitation, and community-based programming
  • Build transferable skills in communication, public speaking, collaboration, facilitation, and program leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passion for working with youth and supporting diverse communities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, adaptable, organized, and professional
  • Interest in education, counseling, psychology, youth leadership, social work, or community engagement
  • Comfortable taking initiative and serving in a peer leadership capacity
  • Bilingual English/Spanish encouraged but not required

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years old
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must pass all AmeriCorps-required background clearances

Benefits of Service

  • Monthly living stipend of $3,000 per month during the service term
  • Opportunity to earn the full Segal AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of service
  • Eligibility for the California For All Education Award
  • Opportunities total approximately $10,000 that can be used toward qualified student loans or future educational expenses
