Duties And Responsibilities
- Ensure safety and security of vessels and facility.
- Establishes effective communications between departments to assist in the coordination of vessel tasking.
- Ensuring that all vessel drills are conducted and logged in accordance with USCG and the company’s requirements.
- Report 60 days in advance any upcoming inspections and certification renewals to the Director of Marine Operations, Port Captain, and Chief Port Engineer, and schedule inspection dates with the USCG.
- Ensures that all accident reports are completed promptly and accurately.
- Respond to customer interactions and unusual occurrences then document and report to upper management.
- Aid with vessel food and beverage management and inventory.
- Responsible for maintaining the proper scheduling of all marine personnel, ensuring optimal coverage.
- Oversees time and attendance for personnel, including time off requests and approvals, ensuring accuracy and compliance to maintain efficient staffing levels.
- Ensures that direct reports are meeting company standards based on their individual job descriptions and areas of responsibility.
- Set and maintain a schedule of captain crew performance evaluations, including regular ride-along observations, one-on-one conversations, and safety reviews while considering manager recommendations.
- Works to ensure compliance with all company policies.
- Assists Port Director and Human Resources Department to help handle and resolve personnel issues.
- Assists the Human Resources and Talent Acquisitions team to recruit, hire, train, and retain all staff within the port.
- Responsible for all marine personnel onboard and virtual company mandatory trainings.
- Collaborate with management to ensure budgetary guidelines are met.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment, both independently and in a team.
- Effective communication skills to direct crew, keep passengers safe, and relay pertinent information.
- 1-3 years of experience in a management role.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems while prioritizing tasks in order of importance.
- Ability to maintain calm and take control in various situations.
- Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
- Experience in Microsoft Suite.
- Master 100 Ton.
- Valid TWIC, First Aid, and CPR.
- FCC Marine Radio Operators Permit.
- Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to coworkers and guests.
- Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.
- Will be required to be available for work nights, weekends and on all major holidays.
