About the role
Assists in the repair and maintenance of machinery and electromechanical equipment in packaging, processing, distribution and plant infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Completes paperwork as required and initiates purchase order request forms for parts and supplies.
- Develops inventory program to ensure tooling is in excellent working condition at all times, including maintenance and storage, and that tooling is checked out and signed in according to guidelines.
- Works with tooling vendors to optimize tooling inspection process while developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Remains current with advancements in technology and tooling design to ensure operational excellence.
- Qualifies as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in tooling installation, cleaning, and disassembly of manufacturing and other equipment as assigned.
- Accurately identifies unacceptable tooling prior to use and determines root cause of damage and corrective action to prevent future damage.
- Optimizes cleaning procedures used for tooling including detergents, cleaning equipment, storage, and handling.
- Develops polishing program to keep tooling in excellent working condition at all times.
- Determines inspection requirements for tablet and encapsulation tooling including frequency, procedures, verification, tracking, and refurbishing or disposal as needed.
- Creates and maintains Identification System to track tooling and keep sets labeled and complete at all times.
- Performs tooling inspection and tooling matching for tablet press and encapsulate tooling to ensure all tooling is in proper serviceable condition and that all tooling is matched set to achieve equal tableting compression force and/or optimal performance of the capsule filling process.
- Complies with safety and GMP requirements.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and 2 years experience.
Skills
- Knowledge of tooling installation, cleaning, and disassembly of manufacturing and other equipment.
- Ability to remain current with advancements in technology and tooling design.
- Ability to accurately identify unacceptable tooling and determine root cause of damage.
- Ability to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Ability to optimize cleaning procedures and develop polishing programs.
- Ability to determine inspection requirements and create identification systems.
- Ability to perform tooling inspections and tooling matching.
- Knowledge of safety and GMP requirements.
