About the role
This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Join Blue Origin's mission to lower the cost of access to space and enable millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. In this role, you'll plan and develop launch vehicle manufacturing, assembly, and ground support equipment, while analyzing and optimizing production and test operations across existing and emerging programs. You'll collaborate closely with design engineering, manufacturing, test operations, supply chain, and facilities teams to deliver efficient, safe, and cost-effective launch operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes and tooling for launch vehicle structures, propulsion, and integration systems.
- Introduce advanced manufacturing techniques (automation, additive manufacturing, composites, precision machining, digital manufacturing) into production workflows.
- Drive vertical integration by bringing critical processes and tooling in-house to improve cost, schedule, and design agility.
- Partner with design, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure manufacturability, scalability, and reliability.
- Participate in Design Gated Reviews, applying DFX principles early.
- Develop and demonstrate manufacturing concepts for large-scale aerospace hardware.
- Conduct root cause analysis and lead continuous improvement to enhance throughput, quality, and cost.
- Author and maintain tooling requirements, process specs, work instructions, and training guides.
- Support infrastructure planning for launch pads, integration facilities, and GSE.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

- Must meet U.S. export control eligibility (citizen, national, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
Desired
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years developing manufacturing processes for large systems.
- Experience implementing vertical integration strategies, especially industrial robotics.
- Familiarity with large-scale composites, cryogenic tank manufacturing, and propulsion assembly.
- Experience with novel tooling — automation, robotics, modular/reconfigurable fixtures.
- Hands-on shop floor experience and process validation.
- TIG/MIG/laser welding, brazing, or soldering experience.
- CNC programming/operation (3-axis+ mills and lathes).
- Experience designing mechanisms, fixtures, jigs, and test stands.
- Familiarity integrating mechanical systems with electrical components, sensors, actuators, and controls.
- Working knowledge of metals, polymers, and composites.
