About the Role

The Manufacturing & Assembly Technician will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of manufacturing processes and equipment. This role involves technical manufacturing and assembly work across Safety, Quality, and Engineering projects, including production, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Engineering and other manufacturing team members to uphold high standards of Safety, Quality, and Productivity.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery and equipment.
• Monitor and adjust machinery and equipment to maintain quality and productivity standards.
• Maintain the Preventative Maintenance Program with regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify and address potential problems.
• Monitor and replenish inventory of parts and supplies for equipment and assembly tools for the Assembly Department.
• Provide technical support to the assembly department, including supervisors, leads, and assemblers, for equipment malfunctions, machine operation, and medical device scrap and rework issues.
• Lead and assist in mechanical support for the Engineering and Quality Assurance teams.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
• Assist the assembly department with compressed gas tank handling and startup processes.
• Identify, evaluate, diagnose, repair, and test medical devices using customer complaint data and other fault information, cross-referencing with standard operating procedures (SOP) and service manuals.
• Utilize good documentation practices (GDP) and good manufacturing practices (GMP) to document findings and results.
• Research, develop, and implement product improvements to reduce failure rates using knowledge gained from repairing products.
• Leverage knowledge of the Ohio Medical ERP System to assist in verifying Bills of Materials and drawings.
• Solve key technical challenges and assist in implementing solutions.
• Coordinate and manage external machine builders and suppliers to build necessary equipment and fixtures.
• Provide mechanical support for Quality and Manufacturing Engineering Teams’ projects, including execution of validation/verification protocols and engineering studies.

Repairing

• Identify the type of device that requires service and understand its normal operational parameters.
• Identify any deviations from the device’s normal operating parameters.
• Troubleshoot the device to identify which component or sub-assembly is not functioning correctly and replace it.
• If the cause of the failure cannot be identified, work with Engineering to determine the issue.

Documentation

• Record all actions taken during maintenance and repair processes in correct locations (e.g., document management systems, forms, shared databases).
• Perform equipment assessments while managing the asset database, maintenance, and maintenance logs for all fixtures and equipment.
• Maintain good organization during the documentation process.
• Review paperwork associated with equipment and device repairs for technical accuracy.
• Collect and categorize data for trending and metrics analysis.

Other Duties

• Expert knowledge in the safe handling, storage, and operation of compressed gas tanks.
• Support Building Maintenance as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience.
• Technical aptitude and preferred experience troubleshooting and repairing medical devices.
• Working knowledge of basic electromechanical systems.
• Basic data entry into electronic forms.
