Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Manufacturing Technician – Level 3 to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT, supporting our Copper Crossing Value Stream (CXVS) facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on activities/tasks associated with manufacturing composite rocket cases, including tooling assembly/disassembly, case surface preparation, and operation of composite winding equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and facilities.
  • Operate industrial equipment such as bridge cranes, forklifts, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control and design specifications.
  • Start and end helicals and hoops in the carbon winding process, following planning requirements.
  • Continuously monitor machinery to ensure winding is completed according to established planning and procedures.
  • Weigh material for mixing processes.
  • Work with resins, carbon fiber, chemical cleaning processes (e.g., industrial degreaser), and aluminum oxide cloth.
  • Perform safe handling of hazardous waste materials for disposal.
  • Adhere to stringent procedures in assigned duties.
  • Participate as a team member to positively influence and enhance the safety, quality, cost, and schedule of the team.

Requirements

  • Willingness to perform shift work and overtime, including weekends and holidays.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (stand for long periods, work from knees, ascend/descend ladders, lift/bend/twist/push/pull up to 50 lbs.).
  • Ability to wear protective equipment (respirator, coveralls, gloves, eye and ear protection).
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow established written instructions without deviation.
  • Perform basic math and measurement functions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing experience or related business experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate related to composite materials.

Schedule

  • B-Shift: Weekday night shift (12-hour shifts, rotating Thursdays).
  • Overtime worked as necessary.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $52,700.00 - $70,300.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
