About the Role
The Manufacturing & Site Infrastructure Engineer provides specialized network support and implementation services across manufacturing and production facilities. This role focuses on physical infrastructure, site-level deployments, and hands-on technical support at the Winston-Salem manufacturing campuses.
Responsibilities
- Site Infrastructure Deployment
- Execute IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) buildout plans at manufacturing and office locations
- Support fiber installation, documentation, and validation across US facility sites
- Coordinate with CAD/Drawing teams for accurate fiber plant documentation
- Plan and implement site-level network connectivity upgrades in line with infrastructure roadmap
- Conduct site surveys to assess current network infrastructure and identify improvement opportunities
- Manufacturing Network Support
- Work with manufacturing engineers to support Network Address Translation (NAT) and network design for production environments
- Provide hands-and-feet support for all network incidents across manufacturing sites for the full SOW duration
- Replace UPS batteries based on downtime schedules (batteries procured and stocked by client)
- Support network-related issues arising at ROC and Plaza NTP system locations
- Assist electrical engineers with any network-related infrastructure issues
- Physical Infrastructure Maintenance
- Perform physical device support in a secondary role for F5 load balancers as needed
- Support cabling, patching, and physical layer troubleshooting across site locations
- Travel to manufacturing facilities within a 30-mile radius as required
- Document site survey reports, IDF buildout plans, and fiber installation activities
- Vendor & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with third-party vendors for physical network implementation tasks
- Maintain vendor coordination records related to network infrastructure projects
- Participate in infrastructure refresh planning and project implementation under client direction
- Escalate complex site issues to the Team Lead for architectural guidance
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in network field engineering or site infrastructure roles
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic cabling, IDF buildouts, and structured cabling standards
- Familiarity with manufacturing or industrial network environments
- Experience with physical layer troubleshooting (copper and fiber)
- Ability to travel within a 30-mile radius as needed for manufacturing site support
- Working knowledge of UPS systems and data center/wiring closet standards
- BICSI certification or equivalent physical infrastructure credentials preferred
