About the role

Kennametal Inc. delivers productivity to customers through materials science, tooling and wear-resistant solutions. Customers across aerospace and defense, earthworks, energy, general engineering and transportation turn to Kennametal to help them manufacture with precision and efficiency. This role is based in Bedford, PA, and is an on-site position. The shift is 3rd shift, 11:00PM - 7:00AM (Sunday - Thursday). Subsidized healthcare starts day 1.

Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to inspect product during manual or automatic clip/pack operations, pack product in containers and place on skids. Key job accountabilities include:

  • Safety: Perform pre-operation checks for both individual machines and work area, perform safety inspections required for individual machines and associated equipment.
  • Production: Operate clipper or pack station at optimal level to meet or exceed established daily production rates that are assigned by shop orders.
  • Quality: Inspect parts to meet established ISO requirements (i.e., labels, piece count, containers).
  • Delivery: Support functions and process shop orders to meet established due dates.
  • Cost: Responsible for tracking and problem solving of the materials used and efficient equipment use to reduce cost.
  • Inventory: Responsible for management of WIP and components (i.e., hardware, clips, washers, buckets, boxes), perform cycle counts as specified.
  • Lean: Participate in lean events and utilize lean processes in daily duties.
  • TPM: Perform daily required TPM on associated equipment.
  • 5S: Perform daily required 5S activities for work area.
  • Metrics: Perform daily activities associated with gathering and posting established metrics.
  • Data: Accurate and timely recording of required data (i.e. Production, quality etc)

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High school diploma or general equivalent diploma
  • Completion of basic math, blueprint reading and gauge-reading training
  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisors and coworkers
