Summary
The Manufacturing Process Operator supports multiple manufacturing operations involved in the production of aerospace components and assemblies. This position performs a variety of production, assembly, processing, material handling, and inspection tasks in accordance with work instructions, engineering drawings and quality requirements. Successful candidates do not need experience in every manufacturing process. Comprehensive on-the-job training is provided; employees will be cross-trained in multiple functional areas.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (On the Job Training Provided)
- Production & Assembly
- Perform layout work, measuring, hole size identification, and hole location verification.
- Assemble metal and composite aerospace assemblies using fasteners and adhesives.
- Perform close-tolerance drilling and preparation for fastener installation.
- Perform work in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
- Lay-up and bag composite and metal to metal laminate structures.
- Processing Operations
- Load and unload components and tooling into autoclaves.
- Process parts through anodizing and chemical conversion coating operations.
- Apply adhesives, primers, paints, and coatings using approved methods and equipment.
- Operate heat-treat ovens and other production processing equipment.
- Visually inspect parts and assemblies following processing.
- Fabrication & Equipment Operation
- Sand, measure, cut, and prepare materials to specification.
- Expand honeycomb core material to work order requirements.
- Operate production equipment including forklifts, overhead hoists, hydraulic presses, milling machines, routers, shear presses, brake presses, and pneumatic hand tools as trained and authorized.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Materials & Production Support
- Pick materials accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain part traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
- Keep work orders and documentation with parts throughout production.
- Maintain accurate ERP system transaction and location records.
- Cookordination with production personnel regarding incomplete or partial kits.
- Use calibrated measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and pins.
- Adhere to all quality, packaging, preservation, handling and safety requirements.
- Maintain clean work area and support Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention efforts.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineering, and coworkers to improve processes and productivity.
- Support additional manufacturing activities as assigned.
- Minimum:
- A High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and manufacturing documentation.
- Basic computer skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to obtain required security authorization if applicable.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
- Previous experience with any processes or equipment outlined in "Essential Duties and Responsibilities" section.
