Manufacturing Operator - Night Shift Sign on Bonus

About the role

Charter Steel in Saukville, WI is hiring for two night‑shift production positions: Billet Conditioner and Banding Operator. Both roles involve 12‑hour shifts on a rotating 5‑2‑2‑5 schedule, with pay of $26.50/hour plus a $2,000 hiring bonus and weekly Thursday paychecks.

Responsibilities

• Billet Conditioner (Melting Department): Rotate through different positions throughout the 12‑hour shift; use power tools to remove kerf from billets; apply ID tags using a welding torch and mark billets with chalk; place chains and spacer bars between billets; perform quality inspections; operate an overhead crane; frequent walking, standing, push/pull, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
• Banding Operator: Enter and monitor order data into the computer; accurately identify coils by printing and applying tags throughout the process; operate coil compactor and other coil handling equipment; operate hydraulic and pneumatic hand tools; operate a forklift; teamwork & communication essential; follow all safety & quality procedures; frequent standing, walking, kneeling; push/pull, and lifting up to 20 lbs; reaching over 15″ away from body.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (assistance available via FREE GEDWorks program).
• Comfortable with basic math (counting and simple calculations).

Qualifications

• Background in manufacturing, industrial production, assembly, warehouse, welding, construction, metals, steel, or other hands‑on jobs.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus.

Pay

Schedule
