About the Role
This is a skilled multi-trade position responsible for supporting and maintaining CNC Grinders, Presses, Sintering furnaces, Wet and Dry media blasters, CVD Furnaces, PVD Furnaces, and the facility that encompasses the equipment. The individual will interact alongside plant personnel and independently work on installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and conducting preventive maintenance (PMs) daily.
This position is for 3rd shift with hours from 11 PM to 7 AM.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on CNC-driven systems.
- Work with PLCs and understand Ladder Logic.
- Handle 3-phase and single-phase motor control.
- Read and comprehend electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Install conduit and panel wiring.
- Understand and apply NEC code and NFPA 70.E.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Work with power transmission, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform pipe fitting, welding, soldering, threading, and fabrication.
- Use welding techniques: Arc, MIG, and TIG.
- Operate plasma cutting equipment.
- Shape and bend metal.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a maintenance technician supported by training from a certification program, vocational, or technical school pertaining to the skill sets listed above.
- Frequent walking, climbing ladders, and standing for periods up to 8-12 hours a day.
- Must be safety-minded and participate in the Kennametal Spill Response program.
- Must pass a Respirator Medical Evaluation and participate on the Plant Emergency SCBA Response Team.
Work Environment
- Environment with controlled temperatures and dust collection systems.
- Safety glasses with side-shields required.
- Safety shoes required.
- Cut-resistant gloves when necessary.
Physical Demands
- Approximately 8 hours standing/walking with two break opportunities per eight-hour work period.
- Frequent reaching, climbing, and bending.
- Lifting up to thirty-three (33) pounds.
Problem Solving
Gather and analyze information, utilize learned skills, and apply critical reasoning to develop options and solve moderate to complex problems.
