Manufacturing Engineering Technician III (1st Shift)

About the Role

Join Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing Division as a Manufacturing Engineering Technician III in Corinth, MS. This role supports production Value Stream goals by assisting Manufacturing Engineers with project implementation and daily operations. You’ll develop print packages for RFQs, tooling, fixturing, CI card completion, Standard Work, ETQ documentation, plant layouts, and other engineering tasks.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot engine test cells and diagnose test equipment.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and process updates.
• Install and run-off new equipment; assist in troubleshooting issues.
• Trial and implement new tools, including training group leaders and operators.
• Investigate and implement Value Stream Continuous Improvement (CI) cards.
• Manage suppliers for fabrication of lifting devices, tooling, and fixturing.
• Create and update standard work, safe operating procedures, control plans, and SFMEA documentation.
• Evaluate and revise standard work, process flows, control plans, and FMEA documents.
• Interface with operations and cross-functional teams, including engineering.
• Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Design assembly tooling and fixtures.
• Assist with torque tooling implementation.
• Improve MES work instructions and MBOMs.
• Create tooling drawings and plant layouts in AutoCAD.
• Purchase tooling and supplies via Caterpillar’s Purchase Order System.
• Actively participate in safety meetings, LEAN events, and workshops.
• Cross-train in other operational areas for flexibility.

Requirements

• 5+ years in a Caterpillar Remanufacturing facility or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing-related field.
• Experience reading blueprints and precision gauges/torque devices.
• Familiarity with process flow diagrams, control plans, and PFMEAs.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving, including team collaboration.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

• Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or engineering (preferred).
• Currently enrolled in or pursuing additional manufacturing-related education.
• 2+ years of experience with bill of materials and engine assembly or diesel mechanics.
• Strong diesel engine background, including assembly of 7L to C175-20 engines.
• Diesel engine test experience.
• Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Creo, etc.).
• Tooling/fixturing design experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High accountability for products and processes.
• Process improvement experience.

Physical Requirements

• Physical exertion to safely lift, push, or pull components/parts.
• Standing or sitting at workstations for extended periods.
• Repetitive motions and lifting parts up to 35 lbs.
• Visual and hearing abilities required for safe job execution.

Pay

Starting hourly pay rate of $28.60, with potential to negotiate up to $37.20 based on skills and experience.

Schedule

• 40-hour work weeks with potential overtime.
• 80 hours of vacation plus 3 days of Paid Time Off (PTO), prorated by hire date.
• 10 paid holidays.
• Paid holiday shutdown at year-end (dependent on business needs).
