Manufacturing Engineering Technician - 2nd Shift

Hourly rate: $31.00 plus a $2.50 shift premium per hour. Shift hours: 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm. Salary is based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations.

Sign-on bonus of $2,000 paid in two installments (less applicable withholding). Bonus terms: limited-time offer; applications must be submitted on or after January 1, 2024. Additional terms and conditions apply; associates must be employed at the time of payout.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing engineers and deploy continuous improvement and lean initiatives
• Maintain standard work documentation, manufacturing methods, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Lead and participate in Kaizen and Rapid Improvement Events; drive change in assigned teams
• Deploy standard work packages, conduct time studies, and create/maintain process documentation (e.g., MMs, VOPs)
• Support the deployment of DeepHow, a video process documentation program
• Assist manufacturing engineers with tooling improvements, project action items, and safety/quality actions
• Support the creation of standard tool lists for work centers
• Participate in rapid improvement events using lean tools (standard work, lean material flow, Eaton lean tools)
• Participate in department value stream map projects and support key initiatives
• Engage in problem-solving events (5 Why, A3, 8D) to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Drive 5S+ culture and improvements by completing audits and leading Kaizen events
• Implement visual controls (floor markings, shadow boards, bin labeling)
• Partner with operations to resolve daily production issues and long-term improvements
• Attend daily Tier 2 meetings and escalate issues
• Provide productivity and efficiency project suggestions based on floor observations
• Issue purchase requests for equipment, supplies, and tools
• Support the continuous improvement ideas program by providing feedback and aiding implementation
• Complete EHS action items (management of change, gemba walks, safety observations)
• Support pilot builds to assess manufacturability of new products
• Interface cross-functionally with all plant departments to achieve results

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or in the future
• No relocation benefit offered; candidates must be within a 50-mile radius of the work location (exemptions apply for active-duty military service members)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or other technical program from an accredited institution
• Experience participating in Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), Kaizen, Manufacturing Engineering Capital Projects, or other continuous improvement activities in a manufacturing environment
