About the Role

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our Fullerton, CA location. This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, you will perform a variety of engineering assignments to develop and implement production and processing methods that meet quality and safety standards in the most cost-efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Conduct process control studies under supervision to create optimal process parameters, translating to standard and rework procedures for production and processing methods.
• Perform process capability studies on machines, gauges, and human factors.
• Continuously search for methods and techniques to reduce machine setup effort.
• Integrate resources in the manufacturing environment under supervision.
• Investigate and resolve work-in-process problems.
• Recommend and implement improvements or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters.
• Monitor assigned operations to ensure compliance with approved methods and quality/safety standards.
• Provide input for manufacturing tooling, fixture, and machine design.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing theories, methodologies, standards, and tools to generate meaningful, quantified improvements in cost reduction, efficiency, inventory reduction, cycle or lead time reduction, quality and reliability, on-time delivery, or safety.
• Prepare cost estimates for customer quotes.
• Provide engineering and/or technical support to other manufacturing sites as required.
• Provide manufacturing support, including weekend and second-shift coverage at month-end; working hours may exceed 40 hours per week as required.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area daily.
• Perform other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, or related field) from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with CAD software, preferably Solidworks.
• Knowledgeable in blueprint reading and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Experience with Microsoft Office products.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience with CNC machining and/or metal forming processes.
• Experience reviewing and updating industry specifications.
• Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Syteline, Oracle, or QAD.
• Knowledge of material science and stress/strain analysis.

Physical Demands

• Responsible for maintaining fitness-for-duty to perform essential job functions safely and effectively.
• Frequent reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
• Must occasionally lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds.
• Requires a high degree of concentration in a busy office environment.
• Able to wear safety steel-toe shoes and walk around the shop floor as needed.

Work Environment

• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment; hearing protection is required while on the shop floor.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $130,000.
