About the role

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer I (Process Engineer) to join the ME A320 department in Mobile, AL. The role involves translating design intent into technical instructions for product manufacturing and providing shop floor support. You will be responsible for the integrated Manufacturing Dossier, covering engineering technical information, quality control, measurement tasks, components, jigs & tools, maintenance tasks, and health & safety.

Engineers at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing facility work on every aspect of assembly, from handling technical information and quality control to maintenance tasks and health & safety, supporting production teams along flowlines and flightlines.

Working environment

The Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility, located at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley, produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. This facility strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry and supports Airbus’ global competitiveness by meeting customer needs in the United States and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Develop standardized work (the best way to perform tasks described in the SOI - the "How").
  • Support synchronized station enablement, including creation of the PERT.
  • Optimize work sequences for time efficiency.
  • Drive implementation of first installations with required shop floor feedback loops.
  • Create, update, and prioritize routings, BoM, and SOI based on shop floor needs, time calculation, and Work Preparation Golden Rules in accordance with ABP processes.
  • Specify industrial asset requirements (Jigs, Tools, Tooling, Machines) for creation or modification, including standardization requests.
  • Plan regular feedback loops with the Production Team.
  • Manage key or recurrent work preparation issues escalated by the Production Team or Technical Shop Floor Support.
  • Interact directly and participate physically in Production Team routines.
  • Support shop floor continuous improvement by providing work preparation expertise for issues not managed at the shop floor level.
  • Contribute to product concept selection in the design phase (before MG3) to ensure industrial needs are considered.
  • Pull industrial requirements to design and supply chain.
  • Manage project deliverables related to your work package, attend meetings, and share information with team members.

Requirements

  • Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree, or non-degree holder with 3 years of Airbus experience or 5 years of industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office/Google Suite and experience analyzing data.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work with the metric system.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical standards.
  • Knowledge of Airbus IT-Tools (TiCon, Zamiz, TAKSY, DOcMaster).
  • Knowledge of common applications such as SAP/R3 (Module PP/PM).
