Manufacturing Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Install and sequence machines, workstations, tools, parts, and supplies to optimize production efficiency.
• Study manufacturing methods, product design, assembly processes, and industrial engineering to enhance productivity.
• Analyze facility utilization, equipment, materials, and team members to suggest layout improvements.
• Gather and analyze process information (cycle times, measurements, test results) for statistical process control, cost analysis, and planning.
• Research and analyze design proposals to minimize waste and cost; suggest design modifications to facilitate production.
• Apply statistical measures to estimate future manufacturing requirements.
• Research and recommend parts, supplies, maintenance tasks, safety procedures, and servicing schedules aligned with production needs.
• Assist Design and Project Engineers, customers, and manufacturing team members to resolve engineering-related production problems.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to evaluate staffing needs for safe and efficient manufacturing.
• Collaborate with Design Engineers on new product design, re-design, and manufacturability.
• Conduct periodic inspections of manufacturing processes, including assembly, welding, and machine operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the position.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Electrical, Industrial, Civil, or Aeronautical) from an ABET-accredited program.
• Specialized knowledge of mechanical or industrial engineering theory, principles, and practices.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent programs.
• Technical writing skills to prepare product specifications, test, and process documentation.
• Advanced mathematics skills, including physics, algebra, analytic geometry, and statistical analysis.
• Hands-on experience with CNC equipment (Lathes, Mills) preferred, including programming, optimizing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics, blueprints, and use AutoCAD or equivalent software.
• Ability to convert designs into production action plans.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Just-in-Time, and Total Quality Management principles.
• Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Sufficient hand-arm-eye coordination to operate computers and pointing devices.
• Visual acuity to read words, letters, and drawings; auditory ability to converse in noisy environments.
• Practical experience and knowledge in GMAW technology and processes; experience with welding robotics is a plus.

Pay

Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000, based on factors including education, work experience, and certifications.
