Manufacturing Engineer I

About the Role

Collins Aerospace, a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to creatively apply engineering knowledge to solve complex manufacturing problems supporting the production of sensors in the Engines and Space product portfolio.

This onsite role involves interfacing with manufacturing engineers, production leaders, maintenance, purchasing, quality, production operators, design engineers, and program management. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic learner with a bias for action, values collaboration, and thrives in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical liaison to production, providing support to operators and technicians through technical advice, fixture design, and work instructions.
• Maintain production documentation, including manufacturing documents and production process routings.
• Modify assembly processes, equipment procedures, and design specifications to solve manufacturing problems.
• Use data analytics and SPC for productivity, First Pass Yield (FPY), and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvements.
• Attain Material Dispositioning signature authority (MRB and ASL).
• Identify common defects and issues for assigned processes and learn proper mitigations.
• Become proficient in using metrology tools and key operations software such as SAP, Creo, and Teamcenter.
• Support the development of new products and processes.
• Identify and execute projects to reduce scrap, rework, and repair costs.
• Actively seek new technologies to improve current processes.
• Drive problem-solving initiatives and challenge the status quo (e.g., Corrective Action Investigations, OEE, FPY, customer escapes).
• Participate in and contribute to Process Flows, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
• Develop, design, and plan for assembly, fixtures, and material handling.
• Adapt machine or equipment design to conform to standard factory and production procedures.
• Plan sequences of operations and specification procedures for tool and equipment fabrication affecting product performance.
• Provide guidance to engineering on design concepts and specification requirements to optimize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Properly document and report work.

Requirements

• University degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience.
• Less than 2 years of prior relevant experience (unless prohibited by local laws/regulations).

Pay

The salary range for this role is $57,200 – $108,800 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Factors considered include role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
