About the Role

Seeking a detail-oriented CNC Programmer / Manufacturing Engineer to support new tooling projects and production machining operations. Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, this role involves programming and scheduling machining centers, tracking tooling fabrication progress, optimizing machining processes, and providing technical support to CNC machinists.

Responsibilities

  • New Tooling & Project Support
    • Participate in engineering design reviews to understand critical design requirements and tooling functionality.
    • Review tooling designs and provide recommendations on materials, tolerances, and manufacturability improvements.
    • Develop CNC programs for new tooling components using CAD/CAM software.
    • Generate and maintain program documentation, including:
      • Setup and cover sheets
      • Offset location drawings
      • Tooling lists
    • Record and validate machining run times for Bills of Material (BOMs).
    • Track tooling fabrication progress to ensure project milestones and delivery schedules are met.
  • Scheduling & Resource Planning
    • Schedule machining work across Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) based on:
      • Machine availability
      • Labor resources
      • Tooling completion requirements
      • Heat treating and coating schedules
    • Monitor machine utilization and project progress.
    • Coordinate priorities to meet production and tooling deadlines.
  • CNC Programming & Process Optimization
    • Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs for production components.
    • Utilize G-code and macro programming to support manufacturing operations.
    • Select appropriate tooling and cutting strategies for each application.
    • Optimize cycle times and machining efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
    • Continuously evaluate cutter performance and tool life to improve productivity and reduce costs.
    • Recommend new tooling technologies and process improvements.
  • Shop Floor Support
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to CNC Machinists and manufacturing personnel.
    • Assist with program revisions and engineering change implementations.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cycle time reductions, and cost savings.
    • Communicate effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

  • Education & Experience
    • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent training in CNC Programming, Manufacturing Technology, Machining, or a related field preferred.
    • 2-3+ years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Technical Skills
    • Experience programming Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs).
    • Strong understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes.
    • Knowledge of CAD/CAM programming software.
    • Experience with G-code and macro programming.
    • Ability to select tooling, cutting parameters, and machining strategies.
    • Understanding of machining center setup, tooling, fixtures, and production operations.
    • Experience with process optimization and cycle time reduction initiatives.

Pay

$60,000.00 USD Annually - $70,000.00 USD Annually
