Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and standardize CNC machining processes, tooling, and equipment for new and legacy products, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements, mainly focusing on NPI (New Product Introduction).
  • Develop and validate CNC programs for conventional lathes, mill-turns, and mills via CAM software.
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers on program development and improvements.
  • Setup and operate CNC machines and validate programs are acceptable for production purposes.
  • Responsible for new product introductions including routed processes, BOM's, In-Process drawings, gaging and including the design/procurement/manufacture of special tooling.
  • Proactively works to avoid problems and prepares for upcoming jobs in advance of their scheduled start dates.
  • When necessary, troubleshoots problems that arise and resolves them in a timely manner.
  • Select and recommend appropriate CNC machining equipment and tooling to support new product introduction.
  • Design and implement fixtures and tooling to ensure efficient and accurate machining operations.
  • Conduct process validation and capability studies to verify the robustness and reliability of CNC machining processes.
  • Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions, routings, and quality plans.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and training guides for CNC machining and other processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
  • Support Cellular Manufacturing and takes a leadership role in Set-up reduction.
  • Work closely with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, and production personnel to ensure smooth product launch.
  • Incorporate feedback from production runs to correct job standards and work instructions.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to CNC machining and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree is recommended. If no degree, then 8 years minimum of industry experience required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in CNC programming, setup, and operating.
  • CAD – Siemens NX is a plus.
  • CAM – Esprit CAM is a plus.
  • Strong GD&T skills.
  • Microsoft Office skills are required.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 standards is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
  • Knowledge of the 8-D problem solving method is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are needed.
