Manufacturing Engineer
The Role
Oversees the technical aspects of developing, establishing, testing, and improving manufacturing systems and methods including, but not limited to automation and improvement of processing equipment, material handling equipment, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and testing equipment.
- Ensure standard operating procedures are in place and remain relevant to drive safety, quality and efficiency.
- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
- Ensure equipment maintenance tasks and schedules meet manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Analyze labor cost and plan workflow, staffing, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency and identify and optimize bottlenecks.
- Ensure that metrics for efficiency and productivity are accurate and drive improvement.
- Assess capacity and required resources to meet customer demand.
- Identify and analyze process and design improvements to reduce cost and lead time.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are in compliance with all government laws and regulations.
- Recommend new policies or procedures as necessary to ensure improved products or services.
- Conduct training and assessments as directed.
- Document current and ideal practices and use post-completion audits to assure compliance of improvements.
- 3D CAD design through commissioning of tooling & fixtures
COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS (knowledge, skills, and abilities)
Personal computer skills including electronic mail, cloud data storage and sharing, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, charts, presentations, generate & interpret CAD drawings, layouts, graphics, etc.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels)
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
