About the role
RSi is looking to fill a Manufacturing Engineer position to support our NASA customer on the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support contract (METTS).
Responsibilities
- Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Identifies opportunities to improve products or reduce costs.
- Determines root causes of failures and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Incorporates new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
- Supervises technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff, or other engineers.
- Troubleshoots new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
- Reviews product designs for manufacturability or completeness.
- Trains production personnel in new or existing methods.
- Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
- Designs, installs, or troubleshoots manufacturing equipment.
- Able to interface with customers/teammates at all levels.
Requirements
- Required Minimum Education/Experience/Certifications: Machine Shop/Midsize manufacturing/production Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, mathematics, or similar. Equivalent of a BS with approximately 5 years’ experience (Engineer II) Equivalent of a BS with approximately 10 years' experience (Engineer III)
- Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/IT Skills/Certifications: Manufacturing process improvement Manufacturing process planning Effective communication (written and verbal) skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy Proven dependability
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a MSFC physical examination for any required safety-related certifications.
- All positions supporting the METTS III contract require successful completion of NASA medical screenings at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
- The need for these screenings is determined based on the outcomes of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Job Assessment Questionnaire.
- Must adhere to MSFC and OSHA safety requirements, including use of appropriate PPE when necessary and follow written technical procedures.
- May require walking, bending, climbing stairs, and navigating shop/machine work areas
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to forty pounds on an occasional basis
