Managing Principal Consultant - Distribution
About the role
The Managing Principal Consultant for Distribution Consulting is responsible for developing, performing, and leading major consulting, engineering, and training initiatives that support the growth and advancement of MEPPI's distribution consulting business. This role serves as the organization's primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for distribution planning and related consulting services, providing technical leadership both internally and externally.
Responsibilities
Direct Departmental Oversight: Plan, manage, and direct the activities of the distribution consulting team.
Talent Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers through performance management and employee development initiatives.
Operational Administration: Resource planning and the administration of department policies and procedures.
Consulting Excellence: Drive high-quality outcomes for customers while leading major engineering and training initiatives.
Portfolio Growth: Lead business development efforts for the distribution consulting sector, identifying market opportunities and shaping solution offerings.
Professional Networking: Represent MEPPI within the electric utility industry and maintain strong professional networks.
Industry Leadership: Actively participate in national and regional forums—such as CIGRE and IEEE—to contribute to industry thought leadership.
Primary Distribution SME: Serve as the organization's lead expert for distribution planning and related consulting services.
Technical Guidance: Provide leadership both internally to staff and externally to utility clients.
Leverage deep experience in performing distribution planning studies and managing high-level consulting engagements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on electric power engineering, or equivalent technical discipline, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in power systems studies consulting field, electric utility system planning, or T&D manufacturer's application engineering, or equivalent education and experience in areas key to the position.
