About the role
The Managing Director of Business Services, Logistics & Ventures is responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and performance management across Enterprise Management Solutions LLC's Business Services, Logistics, and Ventures Portfolio. This position directs the day-to-day operations of multiple business lines, including administrative and consulting services, logistics and dispatch operations, hospitality ventures, food service brands, and consumer-focused enterprises. The Managing Director ensures operational efficiency, financial accountability, regulatory compliance, quality service delivery, and alignment with organizational goals and growth initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations and performance of assigned business units, ensuring operational excellence and achievement of organizational objectives.
- Direct and monitor business services, administrative operations, consulting activities, and client-facing service delivery functions.
- Supervise logistics, dispatch, freight coordination, and transportation activities to ensure efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee hospitality, food service, and venture operations, ensuring quality standards, inventory management, event readiness, and service excellence.
- Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies, procedures, and standard operating practices.
- Lead and supervise managers, supervisors, team leads, and staff across multiple business lines.
- Maintain departmental budgets, expenses, revenue performance, and profitability metrics.
- Review operational dashboards, reports, and performance indicators to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Cook up vendor relationships, contract administration, procurement activities, and service agreements.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of records, reports, documentation, compliance logs, and operational data.
- Support business development initiatives by evaluating operational feasibility and implementing scalable processes.
- Provide regular operational reports, recommendations, and strategic updates to executive leadership.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service delivery.
Unscheduled Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead special operational projects, organizational initiatives, business launches, and expansion efforts as assigned.
- Investigate operational issues, service disruptions, customer concerns, and vendor-related challenges, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, new ventures, and enterprise growth opportunities through operational planning and integration activities.
- Develop and implement contingency plans for operational risks, emergencies, and business continuity situations.
- Conduct operational assessments and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, profitability, and service quality.
- Participate in executive planning sessions, strategic initiatives, and organizational development activities.
- Aid in technology implementations, workflow automation projects, and enterprise system enhancements.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, coaching, succession planning, and professional development efforts for management staff.
- Represent the organization in meetings with clients, vendors, business partners, community stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Remain informed and compliant with all applicable regulations, accreditation standards, and company policies and procedures.
- Support the COO and executive leadership team with operational assignments and enterprise-wide initiatives as requested.
- Maintain confidentiality of all business, personnel, client, financial, and operational information.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, Logistics, Hospitality Management, Public Administration, or a related field required. Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Operations Management, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Professional certifications in Operations Management, Logistics, Project Management, Hospitality Management, or Business Administration preferred but not required.
- Experience: Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in business operations, logistics, hospitality, venture management, or related operational environments. Minimum three (3) years of supervisory or senior management experience overseeing multiple teams, departments, business units, or operational functions. Demonstrated experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, operational performance metrics, and organizational growth initiatives. Experience supporting multi-site, multi-entity, or diversified business operations strongly preferred.
