Manager, TMC Operations [TN - TDOT]
About the Role
Iteris is seeking multiple TMC Operations Managers to oversee daily operations in the TDOT 1 & 2 regions. The ideal candidate will split their time between two locations: Knoxville, TN (37914) and Chattanooga, TN (37416). This role operates under the general direction of the Project Manager and ensures compliance with the TDOT TMC Operations Manual, protocols, and policies.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of Control Room Operations staff, scheduling, and resources, including problem resolution
- Ensuring effective communication with the State Project Manager, TMC Team Leads, and Shift Supervisors
- Facilitating as-needed communication with the Contractor’s Project Manager and other management staff
- Maintaining daily contact with all Contractor Shift Supervisors
- Conducting weekly in-person communication with all Contractor TMC Technician personnel (at least once per month in-person unless otherwise directed)
- Participating in TIM Team meetings, after-action reviews, and interagency coordination
- Coordinating with other RTMCs for interagency collaboration
- Attending TMC tours, presentations, and meetings as directed by the State (e.g., Regional TIM Team meetings)
- Preparing monthly performance reports for Technicians and Supervisors
- Determining and applying measures of effectiveness for transportation management, traveler information, and incident management
- Collaborating on updates to the TDOT TMC Operations Manual
- Developing and updating Supervisor and Technician training and certification materials
- Modifying training materials based on system and employee performance analysis
- Overseeing the training and certification process for Supervisors and Technicians
- Ensuring adequate staff coverage in the Control Room
- Performing additional tasks as assigned by the State
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in operations of a facility using employee policies, procedures, equipment, systems, software, tools, and safety protocols similar to those in the TMC Operations Manual
- Understanding of freeway management, traffic incident management, dispatching, traveler information, and traffic engineering principles
- Comprehensive knowledge of Incident Management operations
- Proficiency in Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) applications
- Skilled in using the Windows operating system
- High-level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information in layman’s terms
- Ability to work alternate schedules and be on-call 24 hours/day
- Experience authoring technical reports, manuals, and correspondence
- Ability to coordinate real-time activities and priorities
- Professional demeanor and appearance at all times
Pay
Iteris anticipates a base salary range of $105,000 to $125,000 for this role. Actual pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
