Manager, Software Development, LibNVMe team - Annapurna Labs
We are seeking a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead the team responsible for LibNVMe—the customer-facing front-end interface for our local and remote storage offerings. LibNVMe is a foundational component present in every EC2 instance, continuously evolving to deliver new features and performance optimizations that directly impact our customers' experience.
About The Team
The organization you would be joining is Annapurna Labs, an integral part of AWS that develops hardware and software components critical to EC2 infrastructure. Every instance in EC2 runs hardware designed by Annapurna Labs. We specialize in designing software, systems, and chips that optimize the AWS customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead a mid-sized team of senior, mid-level, and junior software development engineers.
- Guide the development of LibNVMe, a foundational component in every EC2 instance, focusing on new features and performance optimizations.
- Maintain active programming proficiency and hands-on involvement in systems programming, HW/SW co-design, and storage solutions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations.
- 3+ years of C, C++, or Rust development experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience with active programming proficiency.
- Experience with storage systems and the NVMe protocol; familiarity with embedded environments.
Qualifications
- Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness.

Pay
Base salary range: $212,700.00 - $287,700.00 USD annually (USA, CA, Cupertino). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
