Manager, Software Development, ENA Express Team, Annapurna Labs

AWS Networking builds the infrastructure that powers every customer workload in the cloud. We are seeking a hands-on Software Development Manager to lead the ENA Express team. ENA Express is a next-generation EC2 networking feature that leverages the Scalable Reliable Datagram (SRD) protocol — developed by AWS — to deliver industry-leading networking performance: dramatically lower tail latency, higher bandwidth utilization, and consistent packet delivery at scale.

About The Team

The organization you would be joining is Annapurna Labs, an integral part of AWS that develops hardware and software components that are critical building blocks for EC2 infrastructure. Every instance in EC2 is running some type of hardware designed by Annapurna Labs. We specialize in designing software, systems, and chips that optimize the AWS customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the ENA Express team in developing next-generation EC2 networking features
• Manage engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness
• Communicate with users, technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 3+ years of C, C++, or Rust development experience
• 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience, maintaining active programming proficiency
• Hands-on experience with network packet processing and embedded environments (e.g., NIC development)
• Knowledge of engineering practices for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle

Pay

Base salary range: $212,700.00 - $287,700.00 USD annually (Cupertino, CA). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
