Manager Social Impact and Volunteering (NE)
National Grid is seeking a Manager of Social Impact and Volunteering for New England to develop and implement initiatives that promote access to STEM/STEAM education, drive careers in the energy sector, and advance civic engagement aligned with corporate social responsibility goals.
About the Role
The Manager of Social Impact and Volunteering (NE) will support the Director of US Community Engagement and Investment, with a dotted line to the Senior Director, Operations, Social Impact & Community Engagement. This role focuses on leveraging corporate giving, strategic partnerships, and innovative programming to achieve measurable community impact. The position includes a dedicated storm/emergency response role and will be located in Boston, MA or Waltham, MA, with hybrid working.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement social impact and volunteering initiatives in New England, focusing on STEM/STEAM education and clean energy workforce development.
- Set measurable goals, track progress, and report on impact for social impact programs.
- Leverage corporate giving to support non-profit organizations providing STEM education and job training programs.
- Build strategic partnerships with educational institutions, community organizations, and workforce development agencies.
- Maintain strong relationships with community partners and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Oversee the administration of volunteer initiatives, including individual and team-based opportunities.
- Co-manage National Grid’s volunteer platform, ensuring efficient tracking, reporting, and recognition of volunteer data.
- Support the development and execution of a global volunteer strategy aligned with social impact objectives.
- Design programs to encourage employee participation, enhance skills development, and address community needs.
- Recognize and celebrate employee contributions through awards, internal communications, and events.
- Integrate volunteerism into the company’s broader corporate social responsibility framework.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align volunteer programs with business goals and values.
- Ensure all volunteer activities comply with legal, safety, and ethical standards.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare reports and presentations on program outcomes, successes, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
- Support the development of advocacy materials and communication strategies for social impact initiatives.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in social impact, volunteering, and community engagement.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in program management, volunteer management, community engagement, STEM/STEAM education, and/or social impact initiatives, preferably within the nonprofit or corporate sectors.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong understanding of social mobility issues and best practices in skills development.
- Excellent knowledge of the education, energy policy, and volunteering context in New England.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess program effectiveness and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with project/volunteer management tools.
- Proficiency with Benevity, Cybergrants, and other Customer Relationship Management platforms preferred.
Pay
Salary: $125,000 - $147,000 a year in Waltham, MA or Boston, MA.
National Grid will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be able to work without current or future visa sponsorship.
