About the role

We’re hiring a Manager, Scientific Visual Communication to help lead BioRender’s scientific visual communication function as a senior subject matter expert, people manager, and cross-functional partner. This is a role for someone who wants to shape how world-class scientific visual content gets made at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Accelerate content production
  • Ensure the BioRender library is effectively maintained as a world-class scientific visual repository
  • Monitor for inaccuracies/errors, content overhauls to eliminate stylistic inconsistencies, resolve content UX issues, curated for different customer segments
  • Find opportunities to accelerate and automate manual steps in the production process to be able to service more scientific communities and fields
  • Lead innovative initiatives
  • Partner closely with Product leadership to bring new products to market
  • Broaden / deepen market reach through strategic content expansions
  • Shape product direction
  • Support cross-functional partners (e.g. Marketing/Branding) on visible initiatives where scientific communication quality dictates customer understanding, trust, or adoption
  • People leadership
  • Collaborate with founders and senior leadership to define priorities, turn into clear direction for teams and projects
  • Coach team members toward stronger judgment, ownership, and capability over time
  • Scale and grow yourself by delegating, coaching, and training the next generation of great visual science communicators

Requirements

  • Strong experience in scientific communication, medical/scientific illustration, biomedical visualization, life science education, or a related field
  • Deep judgment in scientific visual communication - not just correctness, but clarity, usefulness, and quality for the audience and context
  • Operationally strong, with a track record of accomplishing challenging initiatives with clear ownership, timelines, and measurable outputs
  • A thoughtful and evolving point of view on BioRender’s product, platform, and scientific communication standards
  • Strong point of view on quality, with the ability to explain your reasoning and guide others toward better decisions
  • Experience managing or leading people in a high-bar, collaborative environment
  • Ability to operate as both a functional SME and a strong cross-functional partner
  • Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and high-expectation work
  • Strong curiosity about customers: how they work, what they need, where they struggle, and what good scientific communication helps them achieve
  • Ability to build trust, maintain morale, and keep important work moving

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Medical Illustration, Biomedical Visualization, or a closely related program is a plus
