About the role
The Respiratory Care Manager at Presbyterian Medical Center provides leadership and creates a strategy to achieve the best outcomes in quality, financial vitality, and human experience through coaching, counseling, making work assignments, supervising work quality, and developing team members. The manager develops and maintains collegial relationships with physicians and other interdisciplinary team members. This role supports the department and the organization’s respiratory care service line in aspects of performance improvement, including education, application of tools, methods, data collection, and analysis. As a Novant Health leader, the Manager is accountable for guiding the team and individuals to successful outcomes. The Respiratory Care Manager is expected to be highly autonomous and able to manage, delegate, prioritize, and make resource assignments with limited guidance.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the most remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time.
- Assure completion of required credentialing/skills validation for competency assessment.
- Act with honesty and integrity with employees and patients, demonstrating respect for the rights of others, human dignity, and local culture, and Novant Health’s mission, vision, and values.
- Monitor and improve HCAHPS scores, including education of staff and implementation of improvement plans.
- Provide ongoing and annual feedback to staff on performance, including performance improvement plans.
- Coach and counsel employees to achieve success in their roles.
- Foster an environment that encourages teamwork, team member engagement, and community involvement.
- Monitor and identify opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency in human and material resource utilization.
- Allocate staff to units based on replacement for call-ins, increased workload, and staff capabilities.
- Assess episodic increases in workload in patient care areas and allocate resources.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policy and procedure.
- Balance staffing and work assignments with workload requirements and budget capabilities.

Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school for Respiratory Care.
- 4-year/Bachelor’s Degree (required). Graduate Degree (preferred).
- Minimum of three years progressive supervisory/management experience (required). Previous managerial experience (preferred).
- Registered by National Board for Respiratory Care (required).
- RCP licensure in the appropriate state (required).
Skills
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific competency assessments.
- Current practice in area of responsibility, including regulatory/governing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Proficiency with required computer/information systems/equipment used in performing assigned duties.
- Application of safety and infection control policies and procedures.
- Ability to develop learning and development plans, give and receive feedback, and coach and counsel staff.
- Knowledge of staffing, scheduling, and payroll processes.
- Understanding of customer feedback and its impact on core processes.
- Delegation, team building, decision-making, conflict management, and change management skills.
- Verbal and written communication skills sensitive to diversities among age groups, cultures, and educational levels.
